Our Procedures

The process of installing an air conditioning system is something we take very seriously. There are plenty of people who may want to cut corners, but we know that cutting those corners means a shorter life for your system and significantly increases the chances that you will need regular repairs.

Air and Energy of NWFL will be there for you to advise you and complete great work that is backed during the installation. We offer AC installations in Pensacola and the surrounding areas for both residential and commercial properties. As a long-standing business, our customers know that Air and Energy stands behind our work and our manufacturer’s warranties. When you choose us for your AC installation or replacement, you will have some of the best options available.

On a typical project, we start with a detailed load calculation and inspection of your existing equipment, ductwork, and electrical access points so we can plan the right system from the beginning. From there, we protect your floors and work areas, carefully remove the old equipment, and stage the new components so installation is as efficient and low-disruption as possible. Once everything is set, we focus on proper refrigerant charging, airflow balancing, and system start-up checks so your new unit is working the way the manufacturer intended before we leave your driveway.

Because our team lives and works in this community, we also pay attention to local building practices, attic conditions, and the salt air that can affect outdoor units along the coast. We walk you through how to use new thermostats or comfort controls, explain basic maintenance, and answer your questions in plain language. Our goal is that when we finish an installation, you not only have a new system but also a clear understanding of how to get the most comfort and value from it in the years ahead.

When It Is Time for AC Replacement

Deciding between repair and replacement isn’t always easy. We look at key factors like the age of your system, how often it needs service, and whether it’s keeping your home comfortable—especially during peak heat. In Pensacola, where systems run hard most of the year, units over 10–12 years old that struggle to keep up are often better candidates for replacement.

We also consider your energy bills, indoor air quality, and any future plans for your home. This helps ensure any recommendation fits both your current needs and long-term goals. If a repair still makes sense, we’ll tell you that—no pressure to replace.

Signs it may be time to replace:

  • System is 10–12+ years old
  • Frequent or costly repairs
  • Rising energy bills
  • Uneven cooling or comfort issues
  • Struggles during the hottest days

For many Northwest Florida homes, replacement is also a chance to improve overall performance. Updates like duct sealing, better airflow, or improved ventilation can help a new system run more efficiently and keep your home more comfortable through long, humid summers.

What To Expect On Installation Day

Having a crew in your home for the day can feel disruptive, so we do our best to make the process clear from the start. Before installation day, we confirm the arrival window, review where we will park, and talk through any access issues such as gates or tight driveways. When we arrive, we introduce the team, walk the job with you one more time, and cover any last questions so you know exactly what will be happening and in what order. This simple walkthrough helps avoid surprises and keeps everyone on the same page.

During the installation, we protect flooring and work surfaces, remove old equipment in sections to control dust, and keep pathways as clear as possible so you can still move around your home. It is normal to have the power or air conditioning off for part of the day, and we try to schedule the most disruptive steps for earlier times so your home is cooling again as soon as we can safely do so. At the end of the day, we haul away old equipment and debris, wipe down work areas, and leave your home in the same condition we found it.

Once the new system is running, we take time to show you filter locations, demonstrate how to use the thermostat, and explain any sounds or cycles that are normal for your new unit. If you live in a multistory home or have additions, we may ask you to walk the house with us so we can confirm that each space is cooling evenly. Before we leave, we review the paperwork that will be sent to you, including warranty registration, and let you know how to reach us if you have questions after we are gone.

Your Warranty

When you purchase a new system from Air and Energy of NWFL you not only get a full manufacturer’s warranty on parts and components but you also get our 1-year labor warranty, with a 10-year extended labor warranty available.

We take time to register your new equipment properly and review what is covered so there are no surprises later. Many homeowners are not aware that skipped maintenance or unregistered equipment can limit protection, so we help you understand how to keep your warranties in good standing. If a covered part fails during the warranty period, our team coordinates with the manufacturer and handles the replacement work so you spend less time chasing paperwork and more time enjoying a comfortable home.

Best Practices on Air Conditioning Installations in Pensacola

If you live in the Southern United States, there is little more important during the sweltering summer months than a functioning air conditioning system. High seasonal temperatures mean that almost every new build from Florida to New Mexico comes equipped with a cooling system these days. Whether you are installing an air conditioning unit in a new-build house or replacing an old system in an existing building, there are certain boxes that you will need to ensure are checked if you want a system that maximizes efficiency and cooling potential. In this article, we will walk you through some of the principles that should be followed when fitting a new system.

1. Focus on Sizing

The size of the cooling unit that you go for will be vital to the overall performance rating of your HVAC system. Choosing a unit that is too large for the area you want to cool can result in short cycling, which leads to low efficiency, poor humidity control, and a decreased unit lifespan. Meanwhile, a unit that is too small will have to work overtime to cool a larger space or may not be able to do it at all.

Hitting the correct size of air conditioner for a given space relies on working out the area in square feet of the room that you want to cool. You then need to multiply this number by 25 BTU (British Thermal Unit) to work out the total BTU you will need your unit to generate. For example, if you have an area of 100 square feet, you will need a unit capable of 2,500 BTU.

Note: Do not be fooled into thinking that a smaller unit with a better energy rating will always be more efficient. If the unit is too small for the cooling area, it will have to run constantly instead of cycling, which will raise your energy bill above what you would pay with a properly sized unit.

2. Ductwork Design

The design of the ductwork can be equally as important as the unit itself. As a result, it is worth spending some time brainstorming ways to minimize the length of ductwork that your system will use. The longer the distance from the unit to the duct, the more the cool air generated by the unit will warm up. Excessive ductwork can have a marked negative impact on the overall energy efficiency of the system.

It is a good idea to pass the ductwork through areas of the building that already have ample insulation (internal walls, ceilings, and similar locations). Avoid running it through attics and basements if possible. If you do have to run it through areas of low insulation, take extra care to clad the ductwork in insulating material to avoid temperature transfer.
